Variables
Phometry really is not as difficult as it sounds. In my urban location I can regulary achieve accuracies between 5 and 10 milimagnitudes over an entire session. All you need are clear skies and decent calibration frames. A good mount is very helpfull as well, so stars stay on the same location on the image, reducing the impact of for example decreasing field illumination.

I am currently involved in two observation programs:
HADS project: Werkgroep Variabelen, Vereniging voor Sterrenkunde
This project involves observing High Amplitude Delta Scuti stars. The idea is to monitor a number of stars in a long period to monitor possible period changes.
Eclipsing Binaries
This program is run by Tibor Hegedus. The idea is to time minima of eclipsing binaries that could show apsidal motion. These eccentric and well detached binaries can easily be observed with small telescopes.
