Maarten was a Business Intelligence Consultant for numerous projects in different domains. He was primarily focused on Business Objects and Oracle Reports/Discoverer. Maarten not only implemented a great deal of universes and reports, but also served as technical pre-sales consultant to aid the customer in choosing the best product for his needs. His role further included technical analysis and functional analysis of the reporting needs. He provided technical expertise to customers facing severe issues with their environment, such as performance or other problems.
In the finance sector Maarten helped construction operational reporting using Business Objects for Naviga. At European Investment Corporation (Societé Générale) he was involved in portfolio management reporting for stock obligations and bonds for wealthy clients. In the production sector Maarten helped maintaining the BI environment for Astra Sweets and VanCauwenberghe concrete products, both using Business Objects.
Safmarine, a worldwide shipping company faced issues with a centralized repository, seriously hampering login times. Using a split-up infrastructure, the login times were reduced from 3 minutes to 3 seconds. Using PL/SQL to create a datawarehouse and Business Objects the landscape service of the Ministère Region Bruxelles Capitale was able to better maintain the centralized data of over 11 000 monuments and other interesting features in Brussels.
For the Dutch Healthcare sector an out of the box Datawarehouse was devised. Maarten developed the semantic layers and a standard set of reports that could be rolled out to several mental hospitals such as GgzE ( Eindhoven ) and Adhesie ( Deventer ). For GgzE, this wasn’t the end…. a large number of reports and semantic layers were additionally constructed.
