Light Pollution

Located between Antwerp and Brussels, the skies are orange in stead of black. Limiting Magnitude is about 3.5-4. Only on the clearest nights a small hint of the Milky Way is visible. Most light pollution is caused by streetlights, advertising or industrial lights that spill light all over. A good lighting fixture sends light where needed, on the ground and nowhere else. Spilling light in such a way is not only a total waste of resources and energy but seriously threatens wildlife, that use a day-night cycle to feed or reproduce. Excessive light causes cancer with humans and of course lets our starry night vanish in an orange haze.

If only people would cherish their heritage !
