IC 405, Flaming Star Nebula

The Flaming Star Nebula is an emission and reflection nebula in Auriga. The nebula surrounds AE Auriga and shines at a magnitude of 6. The nebula lies about 1500 light-years away and spans 5 light-years. The hot blue star AE Auriga knocks electrons from the surrounding gas, emitting red light.

The image was taken with 16" GSO Ritchey Chrétien telescope and QSI583WSG camera on a Paramount ME2 mount.

Exposure times were: RGBH:3:3:2:14 hours. H Alpha data was collected during full Moon.

All images were taken in 1x1 binning.
